"Make progress not excuses"
HOW TO BUILD A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE THAT SUITS YOU
1. Create healthy habits - Once you have gotten into a habit or a routine for example every week you might want to create new habit and start small e.g. week 1 drinking 2 large bottles of water a day, week 2 wake up early 2 mornings and do a workout. you can increase your habits each week so you may get up 3 mornings instead of two once you have achieved the habit of drinking 2 bottles of water a day. Once these become habits your healthy lifestyle will happen itself and you will become more accustom to this new way of living.
2. Be mindful of what you put into your body - Nutrition makes up 75% of weightless and can make you feel 100% better. It is so important to make sure that your body is getting the right nutrients. A healthy diet should include healthy fats, protein, grains and legumes, vegetables, fruit, dairy/alternative dairy products, meat/alternative meat products. Eating a diet full of these foods is very beneficial and helpful to live a long and healthy life. Even though it is essential to eat from these five food groups it is ok to have a treat sometimes to balance out your lifestyle and also will keep you away from binge eating or feeling deprived.
3. Create goals for yourself - When starting out your healthy lifestyle i encourage you to make five goals that you want to achieve by the time you have finished your four weeks and remember to start small and make goals that are actually achievable in four weeks. For example when i started my four week journey i made five small goals and they were to reduce my resting heart rate, increase the amount of pushups, chin ups, squats, burpies and box jumps that i can do in 1 min, Improve balancing work, school, healthy eating and exercise, be able to create meal plans and fitness plans for others to help them reach their fitness potential as well, to feel good on the inside and to be able to run 1km faster by a minute. I feel that making goals for yourself is essential because once you achieve these goals it becomes so much more motivating and allows you to make new goals to push yourself further.
4. Reduce stress levels - Stress can have a big impact on your health and can impact the progress that you have made with your healthy lifestyle choices. Stress can impact 6 systems in your body including digestive, immune, reproductive, muscular, cardiovascular and nervous systems. These can have very negative impacts on your body such as weekend immune system, risk if heart attack, insomnia, heart burn, fertility problems... the list goes on. I recommend reducing stress through meditation, exercise, get more sleep, manage your time and eating well!
5. Become accountable - If you tell people you are starting a new healthy lifestyle or get a friend to join you it is so much easier to continue a healthy lifestyle. It is so easy to make excuses and eat as unhealthy as you like however this is something that will just ruin your healthy lifestyle as making excuses for yourself is just a way to get out of healthy living. However if you follow my previous steps and guide to a healthy lifestyle enjoying working out and healthy living doesn't become a struggle just a part of your normal life. However if this is not enough I suggest creating a journal to write down what you ate, if you had a snack, why you felt like you needed that snack ect. Also tell everyone about your new way of life and get them started to everything is so much easier with a friend!
